Rita Juhl, Organist was born in Ringsted, Iowa, in 1932.  My home church was St. John’s Lutheran, which was a beautiful wood frame church in the country.  Our farm was about one third of a mile from the church, and one of my fondest memories is of hearing the church bell toll every night at sundown.  It was such a comforting sound, and it gave us the opportunity to stop our “busy-ness” and be still for a few minutes. I got my first organ job there, in 1946, playing an organ that required me to pump the pedals to produce a sound.

I attended Grand View College in Des Moines, where I met Dick, and I graduated from the Univ. of Mn. in 1954, after which I got a job at the university as an instructor in the Music Ed. Dept.   In 1958 I chose to become a “stay-at-home Mom” to 4 children.  I was offered a job as an organist at St. Peder’s when I came to the university in 1952, and I was thrilled to have the chance to play a fine pipe organ!   I was the junior choir director at St. Peder’s for 25 years, and I had a private piano studio in our home for 50 years, teaching piano students.  Music has been a huge part of my life, and I am humble and ever so grateful for the opportunity that I have had to share music with the congregants of St. Peder’s Church over the past years.  It has been a joy and a privilege to do this.

Sarah Zuber, Office Coordinator,  enjoys contributing to the community at St. Peder’s through her administrative work. She joined St. Peder’s staff in December 2013.  She is graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul with a degree in music performance and extensive work experience in administrative support, sales and communications. She is passionate about helping churches and non-profits grow and benefit from clear organization and creative communications. She is also a singer, yoga teacher and foodie.
